My puppy had a dark brown/black scab on his nose the other day. I pulled it off and it crumbled....?

He now is missing a tiny patch of hair where it was and there's a little pink hold - it's really small. What is this? Do I need to take him to a vet? I thought maybe it was a tick, but I tick wouldn't crumble into pieces would it?

It could be a hot spot, where they scab and lose hair for no apparent reason. Hopefully it is not where his tongue can get and you can put some neosporin on it to help heal it faster, I just went to the vet for this and $100 later, they prescribed regular old neosporin.

It sounds like just some skin came off with the scab. A lot of dogs actually have pink skin under their fur, mine does. He should be fine, he'll heal, and the fur will grow back.

It was probably just a scab that came off and took the hair with it. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless more hair comes off or the hair doesn't grow back, or it starts to smell or drain. Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about it. It is just probally some mud or something and maybe a scab but when I get my dogs scabs off they take some hair with them and he is always fine I am sure yours will be 2. If it gets worse though take your dog to the vet.

No, it's not a tick, it just might be a small cut or just a dry spot on his nose and it healed and the scab just crumbled. It's just like when you pull your own scab off it does the same thing. Good Luck

No, it wouldn't have been a tick.

He probably just scraped his nose on something and when the scab came off it pulled some of the hair with it. My dog has pink skin on the end of her snout.

Just keep an eye on it and let it heal. If you notice any swelling or discharge, then get it checked. Otherwise it is probably healing fine.

More than likely it was a scab just like you would get, and the hole is the result of you pulling off the scab. Put some neosporin ointment on it, it should be gone in a week or two.
