Please help!?!? My guniea pig has a large bump on her skin...?

My guniea pig has a large, pink, bump on her skin. It's about the size of a penny, it's "squishy" and it has a strange brown mark on top of it. There are no pieces of fur growing on it. She's older (4 years old). I'm really not sure what it is, and I was wondering if anybody knew or had an idea of what it could be. My mom thinks it's an ingrown hair, but I don't know if she's right or not. It has been there for a couple of days now. If nobody can give me a good idea of what it could be and it doesn't go away in a few days, then I will take her to the vet, so please don't suggest it.

It could be a few things.

It could be a abcess- abcesses are essentially a pus-filled infection under the skin, perhaps from a bite or injury. Abcesses need to be cleaned and drained by a vet.

It could be a tumor. Most guinea pig tumors are not harmful (many are just fatty deposits), but they should be checked out and removed by a vet.

It could be a cyst. Cysts are like an abcess, but do not contain pus. Cysts must be surgically removed.

The link below has helpful information and photos on "bumps and lumps."

Best of luck!

No she will not die but you are still going to pay small bill for cyst removal

You should take the guinea pig to the vet. No one on here can tell what it is without looking at it. Your vet will be able to treat it as necessary. If you leave it too long then it could get to the point where it needs to be removed and anaesthetics are risky especially in guineas. If it gets too big the vet will not have enough skin to work with.

Abcesses are common in guinea pigs and do not bother a guinea pig unless it is under the chin or armpit.A examination by a vet would be best ,if it is a cyst or a abcess then it will probably require lancing and draining.
