What could this be?

Ok... place on my mom's arm. Started off looking like a small patch of dry skin. Now it's the size of a 50 cent piece and it's dark like a bruise. The hair growing from it has turned black, normally it is blonde. She's going to the doctor Saturday, but she's wanting to know if it could be something bad.

Skin cancer? :( Anything? Or nothing. Anyone with the slightest idea, please answer. I will award 10 points to the best answer.

What could this be?

A week and a half is awfully fast development for skin cancer, but you can rest a little easier knowing your mom is smart enough to get it checked out quickly.

I do not have personal skin cancer experience, BUT I do have a personal experience with a weird skin growth. One morning I woke-up with a grey blotch on my arm about 1x2". I totally freaked out. Over the next 24 hours it grew a little and turned brown. I woke up on the third morning and it had separated into what looks like a cluster of freckles, approx 3"x1.5". The doctors say it is harmless, although not one of them over the years knew what caused it.

Take some deep breaths. I know it's scary that it could be cancer, but there a lot of other things it could be... just look at me.

What could this be?

Its hard to say without seeing it and knowing the time frame this is developing in. Based on the fact it is growing in size and changing color, there is always a chance for it to be malignant (ie. cancer). Definitely get it checked out by a dermatologist who will likely do a skin biopsy unless upon examination it clearly looks like something less concerning like ringworm (fungal infection).

What could this be?

It could posibly be skin caner. But then again,

It could be like some type of staff infection.

I hope she gets better.

What could this be?

Sounds like ringworm to me.
