Ive just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism?

hello,i had asthma as a child and vitiligo (both auto immune) and in 2001 i developed septacemia because my laeft kidney stopped working and broke into pieces, needless to say it nearly killed me but i underwent an 18 hour operation and they "scooped" it out! 6months after i developed type 1 diabetes, the doctors think this was because of the illness. about a year after i still didnt feel myself and they started monitoring my thyroid because it was fluctuating! (sorry if some spelling mistakes appear lol)! it had been as high as 6.5 before and then gone down to 3.9 etc yesterday it was at 6.86 and my endocronologist has agreed to put me on thyroxine. he has started me on the minimum of 12.5mm every other day. will i notice any changes from this amount? i have all the symptoms like fatigue(big time) dry skin, dry hair loss, weight gain, depression (big time) and a few others, fuzzy thinking .he said he found no anti bodies and that was strnage but it was very high at 6.8 what can i expect?

Hi Jeff I feel for you I can empathise with you as I myself have not been well for ages. However, what has saved the day for me is eating healthy food and exercise. At the moment I am trying to lose weight and have joined a Yoga class. Honestly it has been my saviour.

I would ask about what exercise you are able to do. I have an enlarged heart and also suffer with asthma....and whilst I do not over do it I would not be without my exercise regime for anything. 40 minutes a day on the treadmill and I cover 1.9 miles at 2.5 mph. Then I do beginners Yoga and hour a week.

Speak to your GP before embarking on any exercise regime if you have any health problems.

you poor cow!

Ive just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism?

This sounds so wicked dude, hope you get better soon, take care!......

Ive just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism?

but but apart from all this how do you feel in yourself? lol

Ive just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism?

a highTSH level and a low level of thyroid hormones[T3/T4] suggest hypothyroidism .

thyroxine therapy is safe and free from side effects if taken under medical supervision .

the response may take a few weeks time to be apparent.

You should feel better fairly soon. If you don't, let your GP know and they will probably up the dose. Probably wants to go careful if it's going up and down so that any increased dose doesn't coincide with a thyroxine peak! I think it's common pattern for it to go up and down a bit before settling down to hypo- (low) thyroidism.

I really feel for you. You really have not had much luck with your internal plumbing. Why was your op so long? 18 hours seems like a huge length of time. A full kidney transplant only takes 4 hours. both my sisters and my mum have hypothyroidism they had all the symptoms you have said you have. they are all fine now and everything has leveled out. Good luck in the future and remember to eat well and exercise look after yourself.
