As a resident of croxteth?

i feel that this rhys killing has been totally overblown by the murder firstly..he wasn't WASN'T killed in croxteth he was killed on the "nice" middle class estate where all the DRUG dealers live NOT nice middle class people DRUG DEALERS. secondly it wasn't acutally croxteth it was WEST DERBY...and to my final point the kid ISN'T THE FIRST nor will he be the last. when i was home last two guys had been shot gunned and found in pieces in bins. i've seen nail bombs gang warfare and i personally know A THIRTEEN year old MURDERER.....THIS murder was only reported because it occured IN WEST DERBY not REAL CROXTETH....where i have personally been shot at twice, burned with a lighter had lit ciggaretes thrown at me , been held up with a stanely knife and had my hair set alight..all of this done by kids as YOUNG if not younger does anyone else agree the media has gone to far?

As a resident of croxteth?

No the media haven't gone too far. Who cares what area he was killed in. Why does it matter whether he was killed in an affluent area or the slums. The fact is he was an innocent 11 year old who was murdered.

As a resident of croxteth?

you`ve had a **** load of bad luck mate

As a resident of croxteth?

yes i agree.

The media always exaggerate, and dont get their facts right!

As a resident of croxteth?

Firstly, if all those things happen to you in Croxteth, you need to get the hell out of there.

Secondly, Liverpool is a fine city and has fine people. You know where you are with a Scouser.

Thirdly, Liverpool should not accept gun crime or personal assaults as "normal". People need to get the message through that they WILL report crime and go to court and testify. It is in the people's hands. Nothing to do with Gordon Brown, he can't go and turn Queen's Evidence against this thug who shot Rhys. How the hell can a community live in fear of a 13yo murderer? You need to claim the city back.

Finally, a child was murdered by a child, and the press reported it. How is that "going too far?" They haven't lied or sensationalised it. You seem to be insensitive to such serious crimes, living around so much of it.

As a resident of croxteth?

Sorry I'm not really bothered about the ins and outs of the area. It doesnt matter.

What matters is another CHILD HAS BEEN KILLED.

As a resident of croxteth?

omg so sorry for you get the hell out of there pal!

As a resident of croxteth?

The attitude of the media you are referring to is illustrated by the title of the feature in today's telegraph :

'Gang war invades middle class haven.'

It makes you wonder whether it would have been less of a crime had the kid been working class...

Sorry to hear all you have had to go through.

I would like to add, in response to all the people having a go at the 'asker', that he is not implying that the killing of a child is not a tragedy, because it is, but he is denouncing the way the media operates.

As a resident of croxteth?

i think your a liar and if you think its OK for a child or anybody else to be shot in the street wherever it is then you need to be locked up and the key lost because it makes you no better

As a resident of croxteth?

can't answer this as i live in Southampton ,but a child has been shot and this is evil ,my heart goes out to the parents and close family and friends of this little lad

As a resident of croxteth?

its not the ,media that's gone too far , its the scum on the streets that have no respect for the law -that have watched too many gang warfare movies!

i do not feel sorry for you - you have a choice about the kind of filth you associate yourself with !

i don't know about the rest of the people on this website but if i was an innocent bystander, and got hurt more than once - i would move! there would be no third time!

but you choose to stay and defend the place - HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY DEFEND A PLACE WHERE GUNS ARE FREELY AVAILABLE TO 12 AND 13 YR OLDS??

As a resident of croxteth?

wow! and i thought i had bad luck!

why do you still live there then?

As a resident of croxteth?

well that makes it all ok then doesn't it

murder is murder where ever you are croxteth west derby the moon

As a resident of croxteth?

YOU IDIOT, ITS A SHAME THE PEOPLE WHO SHOT AT YOU WERE,NT A BETTER SHOT

A 11 YEAR OLD CHILD IS DEAD,

HOW CAN ANY THING THE MEDIA SAY BOTHER YOU MORE THAN A CHILD BEING MURDERED,

my thoughts and sympathy are with rhys,s family,

As a resident of croxteth?

I am sorry but I dont agree with you if it's as bad as you say get the hell out of there find some where else to live, and just remember it was a little boy of 11 that got shot,so why the HELL dont you go to the police if you know a 13year old murderer are you one of those who will protect a murderer and hope and pray you are not the next victim? Then mate you better dream on cause as sure as God made little appels you'll be next.

As a resident of croxteth?

If I had the bad luck you have had I would get the hell away from there, so why dont you? the unfortunate thing is we live in a very violent society %26amp; sadly the deeds are being done by youngsters, the ones being killed though are mostly innocent victims who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. even so there are still a lot of good kids out there, kids who dont get involved in crime or violent crimes, maybe it is too easy to get a hold of weapons be it a knife or a gun I dont know but the law needs to be tougher on the drug dealers %26amp; those who supply the weapons. my heart goes out to the parents of rhys , he was just a little boy %26amp; also to the parents of all the children who have been brutally murdered.

As a resident of croxteth?

I dread to think what this world be be like in another 40/50 years!!! This Goverment needs to sort this out NOW

Proper sentences to start with, If this poor lad had been killed by a 13 yr old, I guarantee he will be a free man by the time he is 25.

A 13 YEAR OLD KNOWS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RIGHT AND WRONG, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO MURDER

Some smart a**e lawyer will get the lad off murder and he'll get convicted of manslaughter, as they will claim he never actually meant to Kill anyone

If you fire a gun towards anybody, then that is murder

As a resident of croxteth?

On the news and in the papers I have read it has said West Derby. I suppose they use Croxteth as the closest known town.

Have there been other 11 year olds shot dead in West Derby or Croxteth by other children?

Your nickname is not Lucky by any chance is it, only I thought I might know you?

As a resident of croxteth?

"I AM NOT A MEMBER OF ANY GANG ALL OF THE THINGS THAT HAPPEND TO ME HAPPEND IN A PUBLIC ******* LIBRARY"

Good book was it?

As a resident of croxteth?

Don`t worry, our "In Touch" Government will deal with the problem by putting a Tax on BMX Bikes!

Like when that chap was killed in Warrington they discussed putting up the price of Lager.

These Thugs probably weren`t even drinkin. They`re just ScumBags..... end of Story !!

As a resident of croxteth?

Who gives a damn where it was, this was a little boy who had his life ended by a gun crazed nutter who, if we had any sense, would hang for his crime.

In addition let's have life sentences for all carriers of guns whether used or not.

As a resident of croxteth?

We middle-classes don't want your sort in our area. Go away.

As a resident of croxteth?

You say....."ILLITERARE JUDGEMENTAL FUCKWITS"

I must mention that your choice of those 3 words together completely blows your argument out of the window!

As a resident of croxteth?

wow! why the f-ck don't you move??

As a resident of croxteth?

It is some years since I last visited Croxteth, and I have mixed memories of the place. I was taken there by a mate who, like myself, is a member of the RAOB (Buffaloes), which is strong in merseyside (the RAOB is not a gang, it's a mens social and charitable organisation). I had a few beers with him and some other chaps in the Dog and Gun.

Several of the regulars at the pub said that they did not venture out at night for fear of violence. For myself, I was stunned at the bleakness of this massive estate - seemingly few entertainment facilities were available. Norris Green and Clubmoor (adjoining areas), were even worse. West Derby appeared to be a snoot above Crox etc, but the 'spillover' factor, where criminal behaviour oozes into adjacent areas, is common.

Croxteth is similar to many other areas in UK cities. By the lok of the buildings, it was built around the time that the Mersey Tunnel was being constructed, doubtless to receive the residents of Scotland Road. Two notorious areas in my Native Newcastle upon Tyne - Cowgate and Benwell are of similar vintage and were built to house the residents of the Scotswood Road - an area that was comprised of old terraced houses but was by no means a slum. The community there had its pubs, corner shops, caffs and fish and chip shops. Uprooting a community and dumping them in a new area, with no facilities by which people can bond, was the biggest mistake ever made by the town planners of the 1950s and 60s.

Any killing is a tragedy, but as long as we, as a society as a whole, expect people to have to live in areas with no community facilities, minimal policing, low-wage, low-status jobs, no chance of advancement and thus getting out, then this problem will never be solved and will just get worse. We have dichotomised society into those who will go to university, and thus have a chance of a life, and those who wont, and are thus condemned to a battery-hen job in a call centre. At least the old jobs in manufacturing gave people pride in their craft and trade, the old areas had pubs where one could meet, drink, talk, laugh and forget all the sh*t. Cold concrete and metal shutters is no substitute.

As a resident of croxteth?

at least you're still ALIVE, this little boy, through no fault of his own, is DEAD.

As a resident of croxteth?

Half the time the media just likes to drag liverpool down yet again .its not just croxteth , west derby or any part of liverpool come to that any were in the world child killing or and other killings happens all the time all over the world .

Liverpool has been given a bad name in the past and it has just stuck , peole on hear who start to slag if off i bet thay have never even visited liverpool thay have just been reading to many papers and listening to to many stories ,every were has gangs kids walking round with knives and some with guns.

As a resident of croxteth?

What does it matter where the murder took place, an INNOCENT child has been killed and for what? To find out what it is like to kill?. Is that the sort of people we are producing in this country now. I don't care if they come from Croxteth or wherever, council estate or wealthy suburb. A sick murder is still a sick murder and of course the media are going to report every last detail of it.

Your second point only repeats your first one! Why all the abusive edits? Finally, instead of accusing others of being illiterate (note spelling) please take another look at your own work!

As a resident of croxteth?

Yes, that's right move out of the area...if only it was that simple - if you have a big stack of money or won the lottery. And who would want to live in your old place? Gun crime is endemic throughout Britain, not just Liverpool or the North which the South seem to associate. This is Labour's soft touch Britain for you.

With all this exposure I hope the government can get their act together and do something to change the laws in combatting this, although I very much doubt it. If they do catch this teenager murderer I'm sure the sentence would be puny.

I hadn't realise Liverpool had gone that bad, but then I only venture as far as the city centre.
