Biting my tongue?

i often get small taste buds that feel like they're sticking up more than the others, so i bite them off, just nip them with my teeth, but this leads to them feeling BIGGER instead of smaller (im guessing its swelling the local area and giving me more to notice)

regardless, the issue is, im compelled to keep nipping away at the edges of my tastebuds after the first time, and it starts to get quite compulsive, to the point where i can make a fairly noticable chunk on my tongue

it doesnt really hurt long term, or even short term, equivalent to maybe pulling a hair out with tweasers, unless i catch too large a piece of taste bud

my main concern is the possible long term affects on my tongue/taste buds/mental stability (only kidding bout the last one!)

but really, MEDICALLY, is there any reason i shouldnt do this? does anyone else feel compelled in similar situations?

what are the implications of larger chunks ot tongue being bitten off?

Biting my tongue?

It is not a good idea to eat your own tongue. Does that sound like a very obvious answer? Well that's because it is. Of course it is stupid to bite off bits of your own tongue, and even stupider to let the world know you are klutz enough to be doing it. Grow up and behave!

Biting my tongue?

leave them alone, i don't know what it will do but i think its bad

Biting my tongue?

Yes, you should stop doing this now! Repetitively biting off taste buds will really harm your tongue閳ユ獨 surface over the long term, and will lead to a loss of ability to taste for a start. Many other heath issues could come up in the future if you continue this practice.

Biting my tongue?

Get out of this habit as soon as! it could lead to serious issues!!

The tongue is a delicate part...

Biting my tongue?

Sounds like you have a nervous habit. At what stage will you stop? When you have lost sensation or taste? Does it look pretty?

I think it might be an unwitting form of self harm. What about accessing some professional help if you can't control the habit.

Good Luck.
